Mumbai City FC head coach, Des Buckingham has reiterated that he expects his side to learn from their previous showing against Al Shabab, with the Islanders losing 3-0 in their first meeting, earlier in the competition.
Mumbai currently find themselves in a tough spot in Group B with four points from four games as they are currently locked in a three-horse battle for the second spot. Buckhingham for his part wants his players to put on an improved showing when they take on the Saudi Arabian club later today.
"It’s a game we’re looking forward to, our fifth game in the competition and we are ready to take on Al Shabab. They are a wonderful team who are at the top of the table and they have been playing some good football. We played them in the first game and they beat us 3-0. So, we’ve taken some learning's from our last game against Al Shabab," he said at a pre-match press conference.
Mumbai recently created history in the competition when they beat Iraq's, Al Quwa Al Jawiya on 11 April to become the first Indian club to win an AFC Champions League (ACL) match - which is Asia's premier club footballing competition.
It will be interesting to see whether Buckingham can lead the Islanders past the group stage and create history for India once again.
