AC Milan have confirmed they have extended striker Olivier Giroud's contract until 2024.

All-time leading France goalscorer Giroud has enjoyed the best seasons of his career in his twilight years, winning the Champions League with Chelsea before joining the Rossoneri in 2021 where he would win a league title.

His contract had been due to expire at the end of the season but the current Serie A champions have confirmed the 36-year-old will stick around for another campaign.

Their statement reads: "AC Milan is proud to announce that Olivier Giroud has renewed his contract with the club.

"Olivier, at AC Milan since the summer of 2021, has become an important linchpin in the Rossoneri forward line, making 76 appearances and scoring 27 goals."

Giroud netted an important goal on Tuesday night as Milan earned a 1-1 draw at Napoli to progress to the Champions League semi final 2-1 on aggregate.

The Italian giants may now turn their attention to securing the services of forward Rafael Leao for the long-term future. 90min understands Chelsea have a long-standing interest, with Todd Boehly said to be a 'huge fan'.

However, Leao gave a promising update on his future to Milan fans after they squeezed past Napoli to reach the Champions League's final four.

“I am very happy to be here. As I said before, Milan is my home.

“I still have one year left on my contract, we are talking...do I want to stay? Yes.

“But there are other things to settle. The most important thing is that we are in the semi-finals, we are having a great season and I am happy to be here and continue to help my team.”
