It's a brand new season and time for a brand new feature for us at 90min.

Yes, I'll still be rambling about the abjectness - or brilliance - of West Ham's performances on a weekly basis, but it's about time we recognised the achievements of the players on a month-by-month basis.

Sure, some months are going to be worse than others, and September wasn't exactly full of optimism for the Hammers. But a 4-0 crushing of bogey team Wolves has ended the month in positive fashion, lifting the club to the lofty heights of 'mid-table mediocrity'.

The real question that must now be answered is who were the club's standout players for the month of September? Well, having collated our ratings from each Premier League game played, we do have a top three to present to you.

So without any further ado, let's tuck in to 90min's inaugural West Ham Player of the Month awards.

3. Jarrod Bowen

Appearances: 3
September Average Rating: 7

In third place this month is right winger Jarrod Bowen, signed from Hull in the January transfer window.

One thing you can't ever criticise Bowen for is his work ethic. A willing runner, capable of tracking back and putting a shift in, he's provided the energy and endeavour on the right hand side that Michail Antonio was renowned for.

It's that willingness to put in the hard yards that has seen him oust Andriy Yarmolenko, arguably a higher profile name, from the starting lineup and it was nice to see him bag a brace against Wolves.

The goals haven't flowed on a consistent basis yet, but Bowen is giving off positives vibes aplenty.

2. Arthur Masuaku

Appearances: 2
September Average Rating: 7.5

At the start of the season, West Ham selling Arthur Masuaku would have been a concept I'd have been comfortable with.

He takes risks, plays too many hospital passes for my liking and spat at a Wigan player once in an FA Cup tie. All recipes for disaster.

But, credit where credit is due, Masuaku was sharp against Arsenal after David Moyes opted to switch shape, and Wolves were on the receiving end of one of his best performances in a West Ham shirt.

A terrific delivery allowed Sebastien Haller to net his first Premier League goal of the season, and he's a player that the Hammers really need to get firing. If Arthur can drop in more of those crosses, he's more than welcome to stay.

1. Michail Antonio

Appearances: 3
September Average Rating: 7.33

Okay, so Arthur Masuaku may actually have a higher average rating than Michail Antonio, but he didn't play on the opening day of the season.

So for that reason, he doesn't get the nod for West Ham's player of the month for September - Antonio does, and it's well deserved.

Now fully in the groove of playing up top on his own, he's continued to deliver committed performances full of gusto, harrying defenders into mistakes and making an all round nuisance of himself.

Antonio also bagged a smart goal against Arsenal at the Emirates, and then pulled Wolves' normally rock-solid back three all over the place at the London Stadium.

September Player of the Month in the bag, and fully deserved.
