Moussa Sissoko Provides Update on Knee Injury Ahead of Potential Tottenham Return
By Josh Sim
Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko has revealed he is confident he has recovered from his knee problem after training with teammates for the past two weeks.
The France international underwent surgery in January and recently returned to full training before Spurs players were told to train individually at home to work on fitness rather than together at their training ground.
Now, the 30-year-old is currently working on his fitness to be ready for when the Premier League season resumes - at present, this would be 30 April, though that date does seem optimistic at present.
Sissoko told to Spurs TV: "I'm fine, my knee's okay. I've been training with the team for nearly two weeks now and everything is okay.
"I’m trying to build up my fitness and trying to be ready for when we’re allowed to play again."
His return could be a big boost for Spurs, who will likely still be without wingers Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn should the season resume at the end of April.
The former Newcastle star also shared his thoughts on the current situation in the world, with the coronavirus pandemic effecting many countries.
He added: "It’s a very sad situation, all the world is effected. We need to be sensible and try to follow protocols. Hopefully in a few weeks or a few months everything will be okay and everyone can go back to normal life and try to enjoy life."
Revealing he has been in regular contact with his family back in France, he continued: "Every day I’m on the phone with them. At the moment they're not going anywhere because in France, they can’t move, they are not allowed to go out, only to buy some food.
“Everyone needs to be careful and like I said, follow the protocols, stay at home and try to be safe, take care of your family.
"At the same time, it’s a good opportunity to spend time with your family and have some love together because as I said, at the moment the world is sad and we don’t like to see this kind of thing, but we need to stick together and hopefully, in a few weeks or few months, we’ll have a better world."
