Spanish FA President Confident La Liga Will Be Completed as La Liga Chief Eyes May Restart

Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales has stated that he expects La Liga to resume and finish before the end of June.
Like most top leagues across Europe, Spain's top flight has been suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak, while the initial plan was to return to action in early April after the upcoming international break.
However, with the spread of the virus showing no signs of slowing down, many have suggested that it will be impossible to resume La Liga in the near future and that the season should be rendered void.
Rubiales confessed (via the Evening Standard) that the RFEF would only consider abandoning the season if there were no other options, and that he wants to see everything decided on the pitch.
"The competitions have to be finalised, if possible by June 30," he said. "Although that date doesn't have to be set in stone. We will fight for justice and for the table to reflect what happens on the pitch.
"Health is the most important thing. We want the competitions to be finalised. At some point, it will have to restart. If UEFA ask us to decide a champion and the relegated teams, we will have to look at the criteria. But we want the league to finish."
Barcelona currently boast a two-point lead over rivals Real Madrid, but given there are still 11 gameweeks remaining, all is still to play for in the race for La Liga. Additionally, just five points separate Sevilla in third from Valencia in seventh, while no team is as yet mathematically resigned to relegation - with bottom-placed Espanyol six points from safety.
Rubiales is not alone with this desire to see the competition resumed rather than cancelled. La Liga president Javier Tebas admitted to Marca that they will do everything possible to ensure the season can be completed on time, adding that the rest of Europe are keen to do the same with their own leagues.
"[The plan] is to be able to resume all European leagues in mid-May. All of them," he revealed.
"It will depend on how the pandemic evolves. It could be before, but that is the date we've got in mind about being able to resume.
"We don't want to change any season. We haven't planned [to change the 2020/21 campaign]. In this situation, we're managing scenarios in the short term. If we can't resolve the short term, we're going to have more time to approach the long term. We haven't planned it in our heads either."
