West Ham are monitoring the status of Matheus Pereira, who is currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion from Sporting CP.

The 23-year-old moved to the Hawthorns on a season-long loan from Sporting last summer, and he has been hugely impressive during his spell. Pereira has made 34 appearances in all competitions, scoring six times and providing a stunning 16 assists.

His fine form in the Championship hasn't gone unnoticed either, with Manchester United notably one of the sides linked with a move earlier in the season.

However, Football Insider now report that West Ham are the latest Premier League club to show an interest. They claim that the Hammers have been impressed by him, and are 'monitoring' the player ahead of the summer transfer window.

The east London side, who have really struggled this term, are said to be planning for next season and intend to 'keep tabs' on Pereira. West Ham have struggled to find the back of the net with great regularity this campaign, and Football Insider explain that one of their priorities is to increase their attacking options for the 2020/21 season.

Pereira is on their list of targets, but this is contingent on them remaining in the top flight. West Brom are obliged to make the Brazilian's loan move permanent for over £8m if he plays over 45 minutes in 30 matches.

The problem, however, at this moment in time as far as West Brom are concerned is that all football in England's top four divisions has been suspended until at least 4th April due to the coronavirus outbreak. And while Pereira has made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Baggies, he has only played 45 minutes or more in just 29 matches for them.

It remains to be seen when or if the Championship season is able to be completed, but his fine form has helped keep his side in the automatic promotion spaces. As for West Ham, they were continuing to flirt with relegation prior to the suspension of all games.

Pereira's teammate Grady Diangana, who is on loan at the club from West Ham, is due to return to his parent club when the season finishes.
