All 20 La Liga to Take Part in FIFA 20 Tournament - But Which Stars Will be Holding the Pad?

​In times of great crisis, we all need to find a way to distract ourselves from the fears of the outside world. And the football family turned out in their droves when Real Betis and Sevilla refused to miss the opportunity of playing out El Gran Derbi - instead choosing to go head-to-head on FIFA 20. 

Borja Iglesias and Sergio Reguilón took an entire fanbase into their own hands - and put on a fantastic show, ​drawing 5-5 in a match which was viewed on Twitch by more than 60,000 people. A proper classic. 

Popular Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos commentated on the game, and he then had the grand idea to expand the scale of this exciting content. 

The Spaniard published a ​tweet, encouraging all 20 La Liga teams to nominate a player from their squad to do virtual battle with their fellow stars on FIFA 20, creating a tournament for the entertainment of the viewing public. 

​The idea went down an absolute treat, and the stage is now set for some of football's heavyweights to take matters into their own hands. 

But who has been chosen to lead their team to online glory? 

​Well, according to ​AS, this tournament has caused some in-house arguments in the Spanish capital. There's a surprise. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois stepped forward to spearhead the ​Real Madrid charge, but Marco Asensio has also thrown his hat into the ring. 

The pair will now face off in a single match to decide who is given the honour of representing los Merengues. I fancy Asensio to have the edge, considering he must have been doing something to keep busy whilst being injured all season. 

Over in Catalonia, there were no such controversies, as Sergi Roberto was given the blessing of his teammates to represent ​Barcelona in this prestigious competition. 

For Sevilla and Betis, they already have their men in place, as Reguilón and Iglesias will pick up the pads once more. Granada are still in the process of choosing their champion, and veteran striker Roberto Soldado has tasked himself with scouting the most promising talent for the tournament. 

Former ​Arsenal striker Lucas Perez may have never shown his true qualities on the pitch in the Premier League, but he will demonstrate his FIFA skills to the world after Alavés nominated him to step up to the plate. 

Creative star Carlos Soler will fly the flag for Valencia, while ​ex-Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno has been nominated for Villarreal - presumably, he'll need to be explained the buttons on how to tackle and defend, first. 

Pedro Porro will lead Valladolid and Adrián Embarba aims to helps Espanyol climb the virtual table, at least. 

Rubén García and Marc Cardona have been rumoured as possible candidates for Osasuna, whilst Alejandro Pozo is expected to guide Mallorca through their FIFA trials and tribulations. 

We can only assume that Diego Simeone will take charge of ​Atlético Madrid, then...
