La Liga outfit Valencia have confirmed five players and staff have tested positive for coronavirus, with the club confirming they are 'at home, in good health and obeying self-isolation measures'.

Football across the continent has been heavily disrupted by the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, with most major leagues suspended for the foreseeable future.

Valencia are the latest club to be affected by the outbreak and they've confirmed that five players and staff have tested positive for coronavirus.

The players have been named as Ezequiel Garay, Eliaquim Mangala and José Luis Gayà by Golsmedia. First-team doctor Juan Aliaga and Francisco José Camarasa Castellar, a delegate at the club, have also tested positive.

"Valencia CF inform that five positive cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus have been detected amongst first-team staff and players," the club confirmed.

"All of these persons are now at home, in good health and obeying self-isolation measures.

"Besides providing further information over the coming hours, the club reiterate our support for the health authorities and their social awareness campaigns, and emphasise to all of the population the importance of staying at home and continuing to follow the previously published hygiene and illness-prevention measures."

The decision-makers at UEFA are set to meet on Tuesday to discuss their contingency plan following the disruption that the coronavirus outbreak has caused.

National football associations will then hold talks later in the week, with the future of the 2019/20 season the first topic of discussion.

There have already been proposals to scrap the season completely and start over, with Jean-Michel Aulas of Lyon and West Ham's Karren Brady sitting in that camp.

Elsewhere, the Bundesliga is apparently considering an expansion next season to solve the relegation and promotion problem than many leagues are facing.

No teams would be relegated this season under the proposal, while the top four teams in the second division would be promoted to make the Bundesliga a 22-team division next season.
