Wantaway Real Madrid Star James Rodriguez Linked With Unlikely Move to Wolves

James Rodriguez has been linked (somewhat tenuously) with a big-money move to Wolves - in what would be super-agent Jorge Mendes' most audacious deal to date.

Rodriguez is represented by Mendes and after struggling for game time at Real Madrid this season, he is understood to be on the lookout for a new club in the summer.

ElDesmarque (not the most reliable of sources, admittedly) have reported that Atletico MadridEverton and Valencia are all chasing the Colombian, but his agent has proposed the idea of moving to Wolves.

Mendes' has strong links with the West Midlands club as six of his other clients: Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota, Rui Patricio, Daniel Podence, Pedro Neto and João Moutinho, currently ply their trade at Molineux.

Rodriguez returned to Real in the summer, after a two-year loan spell with Bayern Munich. Despite making 67 appearances during his time in Germany, Die Roten did not opt to make his move permanent.

Since then the forward has been a spare part under Zinedine Zidane, making just seven La Liga appearances this season. It seems unlikely that he will remain at Santiago Bernabeu beyond the summer as he was heavily linked with a move away from the club in the January transfer window.

Back in November, Arsenal were reported to be weighing up an approach for the 2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner, but the player was not interested in a move to north London.

Los Blancos are reported to be demanding around €80m for Rodriguez's services, though Mendes is hoping to convince Real president Florentino Perez to decrease this asking price considerably.

One thing that could sweeten the prospect of a move to Wolves is the club's potential appearances in next season's Champions League. Nuno Espirito Santo's side are currently two points adrift of the qualification spots in the Premier League, while a Europa League triumph would also book them a place in the competition.
