Achraf Hakimi has revealed that he is ready to return to Real Madrid when his current loan spell at Borussia Dortmund comes to a close at the end of the season.

The Moroccan, who joined BVB on a two-year loan in July 2018, has enjoyed back-to-back successful campaigns at Signal Iduna Park, becoming a mainstay in their side - a side that is currently challenging Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig for the Bundesliga title.

Making 25 appearances in the German top flight in 2019/20, the 21-year-old has been in fine form, scoring three and assisting ten, as well as helping his team keep ten clean sheets. He was on the scoresheet in his latest outing, netting the winner in a crucial victory away at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

With just three months left on his deal at Dortmund, Hakimi spoke to Telefoot (via Managing Madrid) about his future and discussed his relationship with Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane.

He said: "Madrid has been my home, I really enjoyed it there. If Real Madrid wants me to come back, I will come back. If it’s not meant to be, I will then have to make my story in another great club.

“Zidane has been the man who has given me the opportunity and confidence to play professional football. I am grateful to him for the trust and treatment he has always had with me. I will always be grateful.”

On his return to the Spanish capital, Hakimi will be met with competition from current number two Dani Carvajal for a spot in the starting 11 at right-back - competition that he is not used to having as his place has consistently been assured at Dortmund.

If anything though, this will only push the Moroccan to fulfil his potential further, and that's a terrifying thought given how good he is already.
