Burnley 1-1 Tottenham: Player Ratings as Spurs Slump to Disappointing Draw

facebooktwitterreddit

What a result for Tottenham!

After losing three on the bounce they've drawn a game! Progress! Woooo!!

In all seriousness though, Tottenham were fairly atrocious AGAIN today, and were rather lucky to even get a point.

Want to know how lucky, don't you? Of course you bloody do!

Here's some player ratings. Enjoy:

Tottenham Player Ratings

Hugo Lloris: 2/10

Oh you would look at that - Lloris fumbled again to gift the opposition a goal. What a surprise that is. I am shocked. I really am. I really am shocked.

Japhet Tanganga: 4/10

Look, he was bad, but he's CLEARLY not a right wing-back, so why play him there, Jose? Why? Why? Whyyyyy?!!!

Davinson Sanchez: 3/10

To put it bluntly, Sanchez was ripped limb from limb by Dwight McNeil in the first half, and looked shaky af in the second.

Eric Dier: 3/10

Is there any footballer in the world less mobile than Eric Dier? He can't run.

Toby Alderweireld: 4/10

Is there any footballer in the world less mobile than Toby Alderweireld? Yes, there is and his name is Eric Dier.

Jan Vertonghen: 4/10

Oh look another central defender who can't run. Only, for reasons unknown, Mourinho played a 'central defender who can't run' as a left wing-back. And as you can guess, it didn't go well

Oliver Skipp: N/A

Fun fact - 'non applicable' is Oliver Skipp's middle name. Subbed at half time because he was useless.

Tanguy Ndombele: 3/10

The French international didn't run today - he laboured. Subbed at half time because he was useless.

Erik Lamela: 3/10

It's a bit weird that Erik Lamela is still a Tottenham player. And it's even weirder that he's still starting for them.

Dele Alli: 5/10

He'e been devoid of confidence recently, and that was evidence by his absolutely horrific first half performance. When he scored his second half penalty, he looked like a different player - one who could, you know, play football.

Steven Bergwijn: 4/10

A talented player who at least gave it a go today, but just didn't get the ball often enough to make a difference.

Substitutions

Lucas Moura: 6/10

Love him or hate him, Lucas was a difference maker for Tottenham when he came off the bench at half time. The problem is, well, the fact that he was a 'difference maker' was pretty surprising.

Giovani Lo Celso: 710

So far and away the best player at the club right now. It's not even close.

Serge Aurier: 4/10

This might be the only game Aurier's ever played in which he didn't do something stupid - and that's because he only played 12 minutes.

Burnley Player Ratings

Nick Pope: 4/10

He didn't have much to do other than pick the ball out of his net after Dele's penalty.

Phil Bardsley: 5/10

Looked set to come off with an injury in the first half, but powered through and put in an admirable performance.

James Tarkowski: 6/10

Another confident performance from the English defender, who must be asking himself: 'why is John Stones taking all my England caps? Stones is dogsh*t!'

Ben Mee: 3/10

Conceded a penalty for a daft tackle when Tottenham looked literally incapable of scoring a goal ever. Well done mate.

Charlie Taylor: 6/10

Lacked a bit of quality on the ball, but was more than willing to race forward at any given opportunity.

Jeff Hendrick: 5/10

Burnley's play was mainly focuses down the left hand side, but did what he could when given the opportunity.

Jack Cork: 7/10

Do you know that bit in Raging Bull when Sugar Ray Robinson is relentlessly pummelling Jake La Motta? In the first half, Cork was Sugar Ray Robinson and Tottenham's midfield was Jake La Motta. Booked in the second, and wasn't as dominant, but still an all-round solid performance from the man with the most boring name in the world (yes I know I'm called Jack too, but it's boring name and I'm not going to pretend that it's not).

Ashley Westwood: 7/10

Busy performance from Westwood in the middle of the park. His partnership with Cork is actually very impressive. It might be one of the best in the league...I said might be!

Dwight McNeil: 8/10

Best player on the pitch throughout the first half, as he tormented Sanchez and Tanganga. Looks a real prospect.

Chris Wood: 7/10

Capitalised on the Lloris error (I know right? A Lloris 'error' is a very rare occurrence) to give Burnley the lead, and acted as a great outlet for the Clarets throughout.

Jay Rodriguez: 5/10

Linked up well with Wood, and caused Dier, Vertonghen and Alderweireld a whole host of problems by being able to do something that the three of them can't do: run.

Substitutions

Matej Vydra: 4/10

Spurned two glorious chances when he came on in the second half.

Aaron Lennon: N/A

Only played six minutes, but it was nice to see him come on against his former club.
