Leicester looks set to reignite their interest in Stade Brestois defensive midfielder Ibrahima Diallo - who they considered making a €16m bid for in January.

The 20-year-old is enjoying a breakout season in Ligue 1 and has made 18 appearances for the newly promoted French side.

The Foxes' interest in the player was confirmed by Stade Brestois' Sporting Director Grégory Lorenzi at the start of year. Lorenzi also confirmed that Sevilla and a host of other were chasing the starlet.

According to Onze Mondial, Leicester remain interested in Diallo as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his squad for their likely appearance in the Champions League next season.

The Foxes are on a poor run of form currently - having failed to win any of their last four Premier League games - but they remain in third place, with a comfortable cushion over the chasing pack.

Rodgers made just one signing in January, bringing in Wolves centre-back Ryan Bennett on loan until the end of the season. The club's lack of transfer activity has been called into question in recent weeks due to their disappointing run of results.

One area of particular concern is defensive midfield. Wilfred Ndidi is key to Rodgers' favoured 4-1-4-1 formation and during the Nigerian's absence through injury, Leicester have struggled to fill the void.

Hamza Choudhury has shown himself to lack the discipline required for the position, while Dennis Praet does not have Ndidi's combative edge. This is where Diallo could come in, as the Frenchman has largely been deployed in this role this season.

The next few weeks represent a crucial juncture in Leicester's campaign. They kick off by hosting Aston Villa - who beat them in the Carabao Cups semi finals last month - on Monday night, before turning their attention to a tricky triple header against Crystal Palace, Everton and Arsenal.
