Nike Drop the PhantomVSN 'Future DNA' Edition in Nod to Original Hypervenoms

On Tuesday night, German baller Kai Havertz was seen rocking a pair of unreleased Nike boots as Bayer Leverkusen took on Union Berlin in the DFB-Pokal, sending the football culture community into a frenzy.

Were these a one-off drip for Kai? Or just a custom pair he'd had created?

It turned out to be neither; on Friday morning Nike revealed that we were in fact looking at the first release of a brand new collection. The boot is the first of four pairs that'll be launched as part of the 'Future DNA' pack.

The Phantom VSN will be the first to get the ball rolling and comes in the same colourway as the Nike Hypervenom from 2013; yes, the boot worn by Neymar seven years ago ahead of the 2014 Brazil World Cup, which also featured the iconic skull and crossbones graphic on the heel.

The Phantom VSN 2 Future DNA Hypervenom channels the spirit of its predecessor with throwback orange and black, and is updated with texture placed exactly where control is needed - on the instep for trapping, and along the outside of the foot for creative dribbling and flicking passes.

Other updates can be found on this classic boot, including a flexible mesh layer inside the boot that adjusts perfectly to your foot and stays snug, while the hidden lacing system tightens easily and evenly with one pull, then stays tucked away.

According to some sources in the football boot world, each of Nike's current performance boots will receive a limited edition version that will pay homage to a classic Nike Football design and will be launched every week throughout March.

Keep your eyes peeled for more updates.
