José Mourinho Insists Tottenham Will Not Rush Harry Kane Back From Injury

Tottenham boss José Mourinho has insisted that there is 'no chance' the club will rush striker Harry Kane back from injury, while the Portuguese has also unveiled a new term of his, this time describing what he means by 'tactical culture'.

Kane has found the net 17 times in 25 appearances in all competitions this season, but he has been out of action since tearing his hamstring on New Year’s Day in a 1-0 defeat to Southampton.

Kane recently stepped up his recovery by resuming training on grass, and Mourinho admitted that he could yet play four or five games for Spurs before the end of the campaign.

However, the 57-year-old has now insisted that the club will not take any risks with Kane. His reasoning for this saw him provide a typical Mourinho analogy, explaining that Spurs lifespan will not be ending in May and, as a result, Kane will not just be rushed back in order to have him available this season.

"Tottenham doesn’t end in May," Mourinho said, as quoted by the Evening Standard. "There is going to be Tottenham for many, many years so we would never risk Harry in a difficult situation. No chance. He is going to be back when he is ready to be back."

Kane was a doubt for the Champions League final last season, but he was surprisingly named in the starting lineup. Mourinho went on to address this, explaining that there are certain matches where protocol doesn't mean anything, such is a player's desire to feature in the biggest games.

He added: "I would play only with one leg if I was a player and I was playing in a Champions League final. With crutches. How can you stop a player playing in a Champions League final?

"Every player breaks protocols to play a Champions League final or a cup final. There are some matches where protocols mean nothing, nothing. So if that was the case, I think it isn’t the case to blame Harry or medical departments. That is just the nature of the way football is."

The former Manchester United boss has a history of creating terms and sayings, such as 'park the bus'. Well, the latest one to be introduced to the world is 'tactical culture'. Son Heung-min also out injured, the likes of Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn have filled in up front, and Mourinho has explained how this will help them become better footballers when they return to their more natural positions.

"For Lucas, for Bergwijn, for these wingers to be playing the way that they are playing, and are probably going to play until the end of the season, is going to make them better players when they come to the inside.

"They are players that normally play in the corridor. In this moment, they are learning how to play inside. So I believe they are going to be better wingers in the future.

"This is what I call tactical culture. A football player is not just about technical quality or the physical condition. It has a lot to do with tactical culture. Our wingers are going to be better wingers when they go back to their normal position."
