Man Utd Target Kalidou Koulibaly Drops Apparent Hint Over Summer Move to PSG

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has purchased a £3.4m apartment in Paris, leading to suggestions the centre-back could be set for a move to French champions PSG come the summer. 

A host of European clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea​, have held long-standing interest in the 28-year-old, but a Premier League move has perhaps become a shade less likely. 

PSG are reportedly in the market for a successor to Thiago Silva, whose contract is up at the end of the current campaign, and they view the Senegalese defender as a potential replacement.

After ​Le Parisien reported that Koulibaly had purchased an expensive apartment near to the Eiffel Tower, links between the player and PSG will only intensify. 

In his six years at ​Napoli, the centre-back has established himself as one of Europe's hottest prospects and most coveted central defenders. 

However, the Italian club's president Aurelio de Laurentiis has slapped a £127m price tag on the club's prized asset, which has led to a fractured relationship between the president and player. Several European sides interested in the player have since been put off by the considerable cost. 

It is therefore understandable that two of Europe's wealthiest clubs – Man Utd and PSG – remain keen on a potential transfer, and 90min revealed details of the ​player's release clause earlier this month. 

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, despite signing ​Harry Maguire for a world-record £80m in the summer, is reportedly keen to bolster his centre-back options, and Koulibaly has been a target for several seasons now. 

United could have their transfer war chest boosted by the sale of wantaway star ​Paul Pogba, who is likely to command a fee of upwards to £100m.

​Bruno Fernandes, the club's £47m January signing, has hit the ground running at Old Trafford, demonstrating his ability to pick up Pogba's mantle as the star of United's midfield. 

PSG, on the other hand, do not tend to hold back when splashing the cash on a transfer target, and if they view Koulibaly as the man to replace Thiago Silva, money will not be much of an object – especially if Neymar finally leaves.
