Sergio Ramos has moved to quell speculation over his Real Madrid future but also admitted that he is in no rush to sign a new deal.

Real's captain's contract expires in 2021 and the club are understood to be working to extend his stay at Santiago Bernabéu.

However, reports emerged last week suggesting that the two parties were some way apart in their negotiations. Real are believed to be offering a one-year extension while the defender is holding out for a deal that runs until 2023.

Ramos has since calmed fears of an agreement being unattainable, saying he does not feel under pressure to pen new terms.

"The relationship with the club is magnificent in every way. So there is no rush on any side - mine or the club," the defender told reporters (via Goal).

"I've never made extra demands, I understand the club's policy with players of a certain age. If the club wants me to stay, I'll stay, no need to worry,

"It seems they want to provoke a confrontation between the club and Ramos and it will not be like that."

The 33-year-old has been at the club since the 2005/2006 campaign, amassing well over 600 appearances for Los Blancos so far. In that time the centre-back has amassed an impressive trophy collection - including a string of La Liga titles and four Champions League winners medals.

Ramos' search for a fifth European Cup resumes on Wednesday evening when Real take on Manchester City in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie.

The fixture sees former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola resume rivalries with Zinedine Zidane's side. Despite this, Ramos insisted that his teammates were not distracted by this sideshow and are fully focused on the task at hand.

"I have a lot of respect for Guardiola, a great coach, with so much experience. His numbers speak for themselves," he said.

"Our big motivation is just we are playing in the Champions League, not the rival club or coach."
