Barcelona have ruled out a move for Real Sociedad forward Willian José in their search for an emergency replacement for Ousmane Dembélé.
The winger is set to miss six months of action after undergoing successful surgery on a torn hamstring, and Barcelona are expected to be granted permission to make an emergency signing outside the transfer window to replace him.
There had been hope that Barcelona would be able to negotiate a discount, but Sociedad manager
"I think he's going to stay with us, unless they come up with the €70m release clause," Alguacil said.
With things now looking too difficult and too expensive, Barcelona have set their sights on alternative signings who could be brought in for significantly less. One of those is Getafe's Ángel Rodríguez, but he recently admitted that he is yet to hear anything concrete from Barcelona.
"What I know is from the press," he stated.
Mundo Deportivo note that that appeal will be sent on Thursday, after which director Eric Abidal will meet with manager Quique Setién, technical assistant Ramon Planes and CEO Òscar Grau to decide on a target.
