Atletico Madrid have confirmed the loan signing of Belgium international Yannick Carrasco, the winger joining the club for a second time.
Carrasco left Atleti for Dalian Yifang in 2018 but it was reported on Thursday that the 26-year-old was in Madrid to seal a return, with Los Rojiblancos giving up on a potential deal for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
The La Liga side have now confirmed the deal, revealing in a statement: "Yannick Carrasco is a new Atlético de Madrid player after our club and Dalian Professional Football Club reached an agreement over the loan of the Belgian until the end of the current season. The forward passed his medical at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra."
Carrasco established himself as one of La Liga's leading performers during the 2016/17 season, scoring ten league goals and registering a further four assists as Atleti finished third in Spain's top flight.
He's been racking up the goal contributions in China, though it was evident he felt he made a mistake soon after agreeing the transfer when he said he was eager to return to Europe in June 2019.
There was suggested interest from Premier League giants Arsenal, with Carrasco himself revealing an offer had been made by an unnamed side.
"There is now an offer on the table and the negotiations with my agent are progressing well," Carrasco said at the time. "I have become a lot more mature and have learned a lot. Also on the field, where I had to take my responsibility and the team had to bear. But my wish now is to return."
