Manchester City and West Ham Tracking Crystal Palace Goalkeeper Vicente Guaita

Manchester City are reportedly interested in a summer move for Crystal Palace's Vicente Guaita, with West Ham also considering an approach for the Eagles goalkeeper.

The Spaniard boats an impressive Premier League record, recording 13 clean sheets in his 36 appearances since ousting Wayne Hennessey as Roy Hodson's number one - form that appears to have tempted the Cityzens into a summer move.

As reported by AS, the City hierarchy have contacted Guaita's representatives as they seek competition for Ederson and a replacement for 36-year-old understudy Claudio Bravo.

The Chilean has failed to convince when standing in for City's number one this season - with his most notable contribution a red card against Atalanta that forced Kyle Walker into a cameo between the sticks.

Four years younger and with Premier League experience under his belt, Guaita is certainly a suitable option - on paper at least - but is reportedly focused on delivering for Palace and unwilling to discuss potential transfers at this stage of the season.

The Eagles, meanwhile, are eager to discuss new terms, with the Spaniard's current contract set to expire in Summer 2021.

West Ham's interest follows the goalkeeping woes that have plagued their start to the 2019/20 campaign. The hip injury sustained by first-choice stopper Lukasz Fabianski in late September forced Manuel Pellegrini to turn to his summer recruits - Roberto and David Martin.

The former pulled on the gloves and delivered a string of poor performances that cost the Hammers clean sheets and point, until the Spaniard was dropped in Martin's favour - to joyous reception from the fans.

However, with West Ham's three goalkeepers aged 32 and older, a potential transfer for 32-year-old Guaita would represent another short-term solution, while the Spaniard would surely be unwilling to play second fiddle to Fabianski if he were to move to the London Stadium.
