Juventus will be hoping to win their second successive Supercoppa Italiana in a row when they take on Lazio at the King Saud University Stadium on Sunday.

The game sees the Serie A champions take on last season's Coppa Italia winners in Saudi Arabia amid controversy over the host nation's record on human rights and women.

It will be a chance for Cristiano Ronaldo to continue showing the gravity-defying powers he showed during Wednesday's league win over Sampdoria.

He and the Bianconeri face a difficult task though against unlikely title challengers Lazio, who are the only side to have beaten the Old Lady this season.

Here's 90min's preview for the game...

Team News

Gianluigi Buffon

Reigning champions Juventus are set to field the evergreen Gianluigi Buffon in goal again due to the continuation of Woijciech Szczesny's muscle problems.

Despite having the experience Italian in goal though, they will be without veterans Giorgio Chiellini and Sami Khedira who both have long term knee injuries.

Meanwhile Copa Italia champions Lazio will be without defenders Jordan Lukaku and Denis Vavro who both have knee problems.

They'll be relying on striker Ciro Immobile - who has 19 goals in 20 appearance this season - to fire them to victory in Riyadh.

Head to Head Record

SS Lazio v Juventus - Serie A

This match will be a repeat of the 2017 Supercoppa Italiana where the two sides met in Rome.

On that day, a double from Ciro Immobile and one from Alessandro Murgia were enough to give Le Aquile a 3-2 victory.

They also came out on top when the pair met in Serie A earlier this month, coming back to win 3-1 against a ten-man Juve side after Cristiano Ronaldo had given the visitors the lead.

Recent Form

Felipe Caicedo

Despite a recent blip where they draw to Sassuolo in the same week as the loss against Lazio Juve have looked good over the past few weeks.

That's in part thanks to the form of the Ballon d'Or snubbing Cristiano Ronaldo who seems to be over his mysterious knee injury and his problems with manager Maurizio Sarri.

Lazio have been the in-form team in Serie A recently, winning all of their last eight domestic matches.

The run has seen them move just six points behind Juve in the race for the Scudetto, and with Immobile scoring at the rate he is at the moment it would be difficult to argue they couldn't push the champions and second-placed Inter all the way.
