Man Utd, Juve & Inter All Hold Early Talks Over €40m-Rated Winger Dejan Kulusevski
Manchester United are tracking 19-year-old Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski, who is on loan at Parma from Atalanta this season, and have already ‘had talks’ with his parent club.
Alongside United, whose previously scattergraph transfer policy has been adjusted to focus predominantly on young talent, Juventus and Inter are also eyeing the player.
The story has emerged from Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport and has been shared in English by Sport Witness. The crux is that United, Juve and Inter have already broached the subject of Kulusevski with Atalanta in ‘recent weeks’.
A valuation of €40m (£34m) has been placed on the young player’s head.
Kulusevski traded his home in Stockholm for Bergamo to join Atalanta shortly after his 16th birthday in 2016. He went on to make his senior debut for the club last year, but was sent on loan to Parma in July to further aid his development.
Since then, Kulusevski has started every one of Parma’s 16 Serie A games and has four goals and six assists to his name – including a goal and assist in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Napoli.
It is little surprise that Italy’s two biggest clubs are taking an interest in a player of such obvious potential, while United have overhauled their scouting and recruitment department in recent months to ensure they are always aware of any talents worth pursuing.
At any one time, United are believed to be evaluating literally hundreds or even thousands of potential transfer targets of all ages as they look to whittle down enormous longlists into manageable shortlists to address areas in the squad that have been identified for improvement.
A winger like Kulusevski certainly fits the bill when it comes to creativity in the attacking third, with United criticised this season for regularly failing to win games in which they have dominate possession against weaker opponents.
