Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is understood to be confident that Real Sociedad winger Mikel Oyarzabal would be a success at the Etihad Stadium if he joined the club.
City see Oyarzabal as the perfect replacement for Leroy Sané, who is expected to finally seal a switch to Bayern Munich once he recovers from the serious knee injury which has kept him out of action all season.
With Sané intending to leave the club next summer, City are considering activating Oyarzabal's €75m release clause. According to El Confidencial, Guardiola is completely confident that the Spaniard would be able to make it at a big club like City.
The boss also believes that the proposed €75m would not be a problem for City owner
"A lot has been said and I have never said anything at all," he recently said. "My only goal is to do things well for Real.
"It seems that there have been people who have more information than me. I am calm here. I have my house, my friends and my family and I am happy here."
The 22-year-old has managed six goals and four assists this season, including bagging the opening goal in Sociedad's 2-2 draw with Barcelona on Saturday, which has helped his side up to sixth in La Liga.
Thanks to his stunning rise to prominence in recent seasons, Oyarzabal is expected to leave the club to join one of Europe's elite sides in the near future, and it appears as though City will do whatever it takes to force their way to the front of the queue.
