Italian side Fiorentina are reportedly prepared to swoop for Leicester City star Dennis Praet this January, as the Serie A club's Director of Football Daniele Pradè has outlined his intentions to capture the out-of-favour midfielder.
Praet has struggled to make an impact at the King Power Stadium since his €20m move from Sampdoria, appearing only 14 times in all competitions for the Foxes.
Fiorentina chef Pradè signed Praet when he was part of the setup at Sampdoria in 2016, and Corriere dello Sport believes that the 52-year-old will try to lure the Belgian star back to Italy to join La Viola.
The 25-year-old featured 106 times in the league for Sampdoria and attracted the interest of Europe's biggest sides before Brendan Rodgers secured his signature over the summer. Praet starred during his time in Serie A, but his progress in England has been stunted by the presence of James Maddison in his favoured attacking-midfield role.
The former Anderlecht midfielder has started only four games under Rodgers thus far, but a January move away from Leicester is considered to be very difficult for Fiorentina to execute. La Viola may turn to Inter winger Matteo Politano as an alternative, as the 26-year-old is struggling to adapt to Antonio Conte's system this year.
Praet featured for Leicester during their 4-1 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon, as Rodgers' men continued their sensational run in the Premier League. The Foxes earned their eighth consecutive league victory against their midlands rivals and anchored their second-place standing in the table.
The 2016 Premier League champions are sitting eight points behind runaway leaders Liverpool, but they welcome the Reds to the King Power Stadium on Boxing Day, and Rodgers' side could close the gap significantly on the current European champions.
The Foxes are a staggering 14 points ahead of fifth-place Manchester United in the race for Champions League football next season.
