Ousmane Dembélé could be facing a slap on the wrist from Barcelona, as reports in Spain claim his agent has used the player's injury-enforced absence to meet with representatives from Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain over a potential move away.

Dembélé is currently in Qatar undergoing treatment for a hamstring injury after a frustrating start to a season that has been derailed by fitness issues.

The 22-year-old has managed to start just five matches in all competitions since the summer, missing five weeks with a hamstring injury earlier in the season before a red card against Sevilla limited his game time further.

He had only just made his return to the side when a recurrence of his injury forced him off before the half-hour mark against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, and after being told he would be out until February with his most recent layoff, he was flown out to the Middle East to see specialists.

Little has been straightforward for Dembélé since his £112m move from Dortmund back in 2017, and though he is expected to leave the club either permanently or on loan in the summer, it seems Barcelona have not taken well to his agent's proactivity on making a move happen.

While the player undergoes the early stages of his rehabilitation, El Desmarque report, that Moussa Sissoko - the agent, not the Tottenham midfielder - has been seen by Barça officials meeting with 'executives' from City, Chelsea and PSG - presumably discussing the possibility of a summer move.

It is thought to have angered the La Liga champions, since he did not have permission to enter talks, and as such he could be facing disciplinary action.

In truth, though, it is only likely to speed up the process of a move away. The report notes that City are most likely to succeed with a €95m outright purchase, while a player-plus-cash deal with PSG that would bring Neymar back to the club remains the priority for Barcelona.

Chelsea are said to be in the picture too though, since they will definitely be able to trade in the transfer market once again once the summer rolls around.

Dembélé has scored 19 goals and registered 17 assists in 74 appearances in his three seasons at Camp Nou.
