Newcastle striker Andy Carroll has picked up a rib injury in training, ruling him out of the Magpies' upcoming clash with Manchester City on Saturday.
The striker re-signed for his hometown club in the summer and has made seven appearances so far. However, he is yet to start a game, with the Englishman only managing 124 minutes of football up to this point.

This will come as a major blow for both the player and the club. Steve Bruce's men currently sit 14th in the Premier League, having picked up 15 points from their opening 13 matches. However, only bottom club Watford have scored fewer goals this season than the Magpies, who have managed just 11.
