Matheus Pereira's agent
Pereira moved to the Hawthorns on a season-long loan from Sporting in the summer and has three goals and 10 assists to his name. After 17 games, the young Brazilian has become a mainstay in the Baggies' side that sits top of the Sky Bet Championship.
Pereira had been exiled to Sporting B after struggling to perform for the first team. A switch to the Championship has turned a few heads, however, and now he is one of the hottest prospects in the top two tiers of English football.
The 23-year-old endured loan spells at Nurnberg and Chaves, where struggled in equal measure. Despite each loan spell ending in disappointment, he has adapted to English football at a faster pace than most.
However, his good form has attracted interest from bigger clubs and his name is making the rounds, most notably Manchester United. Vergette shut down these rumours, insisting that the forward has not yet received contact from another side.
Vergette, speaking to Sportwitness, said:
Should West Brom keep hold of Pereira until the end of his loan agreement, they have an obligation to buy if he makes 32 appearances for the club, which looks likely at this stage. They must also purchase the player on a permanent basis if they gain promotion to the Premier League, which is the main goal for the Baggies.
This may interest both parties, as Sporting will want him off their wage-bill to bring in more talented prospects, and West Brom will be crying out for the permanent acquisition of Pereira should they get promoted to the Premier League.
