Crystal Palace are the front runners in the race for Inter and Brazil star Gabriel Barbosa and are readying an offer to sign the attacker following his heroics during his loan spell at Flamengo.

The Eagles are ready to €23m bid for the 23-year old as they aim to bolster their attack in January after a poor run in front of goal in the Premier League.

Roy Hodgson

Roy Hodgson's side have only scored 11 goals in the league this season, with only Watford (8) scoring fewer. Thus, Palace fans would likely welcome the addition of Barbosa with open arms.

According to a report from FCInterNews, Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign 'Gabigol' ahead of West Ham UnitedThe Hammers' current managerial situation has been a major setback in the race to sign the forward as pressure grows on Manuel Pellegrini and this insecurity puts a move to the London Stadium in doubt.

Schalke are also monitoring the forward as their forward line continues to age and they look to secure European football for the 2020/21 season.

'Gabigol' heroically scored two late goals to hand Flamengo the Copa Libertadores title on Saturday, capping off what has been a fantastic spell back in Brazil for the forward.

Flamengo are keen to land Gabigol on a permanent deal, offering the player a five-year contract worth €5m-a-season. However, he is said to favour a move back to Europe.

In 2019, the Brazilian has scored 31 goals in just 38 games for Flamengo, while also setting up his teammates for a further ten. He was also the top scorer in Copa Libertadores with nine.

With the Club World Cup on the horizon, Gabriel Barbosa's value may continue to rise with further impressive form. As a result, Crystal Palace's interest may soon progress to a formal bid in the coming weeks.
