Hernández was set to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season, but Leeds United have now confirmed that the midfielder will stay at Elland Road for another two years after officially signing a contract extension on Tuesday.

The midfielder was named as Leeds' Player of the Season in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons, becoming one of just two players to ever win back-to-back awards for the club.
Hernández enjoyed a fantastic start to this season too with two goals and an assist in his first two appearances, but the former Spain international was forced to have a spell out of the squad throughout October.
The former Swansea City star has only just found his way back into Marcelo Bielsa's first team, but he's only made substitute appearance since returning on matchday 15.
The Whites are just two points off West Brom at the top of the table as they look for promotion once again under Bielsa, also sitting behind Alex Neil's Preston North End on goal difference.
Leeds have dropped 18 points already this season, but their current two-game winning run has helped to open up a gap above the likes of Swansea City, Nottingham Forest and Bristol City in the play-off places.

Bielsa's side will be looking for their third consecutive win this weekend against Luton Town, who are without a point in their last four matches and could drop into the relegation zone after this matchday.
