Red Bull Salzburg's Erling Haaland has started following both Manchester United and star forward Marcus Rashford on Twitter as rumours over a transfer move continue to swirl.

The teenage sensation has been scoring goals for fun this season, netting 26 goals in all competitions so far, including five hat-tricks. He is also currently the top goalscorer in the Champions League with seven in four matches - averaging out as a goal every 39 minutes.

As a result, there has been major interest in him from around Europe, but it is Manchester United who have emerged as the frontrunners.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already asked his most trusted 'personal scout', Simon Wells, to specifically keep a close eye on Haaland. Further to this, the youngster's father, Alf-Inge, has visited and been seen at United's training ground.'

A new development has now come to light, in that the 19-year-old recently began following Manchester United and Rashford on Twitter.

The signs appear promising for the Red Devils and their fans, with the club on the lookout for a new attacker to bolster the squad. It has been reported previously that they could look to secure a deal similar to Chelsea's for Christian Pulisic - where Haaland would remain with his current club until the end of the season.

Despite this, there is also a belief that the starlet could snub Europe's elite clubs in favour of a move to German side RB Leipzig next summer as he looks to take the next step in his career.

It is far from clear where he will end up or when any potential deal could happen, but United certainly remain keen on securing his signature and the latest developments will give the club hope that a deal can be reached.
