Manchester United are said to be confident that young winger Tahith Chong will snub interest from Juventus and sign a new deal at Old Trafford.
The 19-year-old will find himself out of contract at the end of the season, and there have been reports suggesting Juventus are ready to swoop and add his name to their lengthy list of free transfers.
According to Metro, United have already offered Chong a major wage boost - somewhere closer to the £25,000-a-week mark - but they still have work to do to convince the Dutchman that remaining at Old Trafford would be best for his career.
However, club officials are understood to be confident that they will be able to do so. They will point to his inclusion in the first team this season as a sign that they are prepared to rely on him, both in the present and in the future.
Chong has made four appearances for United this season and he is expected to earn plenty more opportunities in the Europa League.
He is yet to really impress in those outings, but United feel as though that may be their fault as they have sought to push youngsters like Chong and Angel Gomes, who is also approaching the end of his contract, into the first team as soon as possible, perhaps before they are even ready.
It is suggested that United could look to loan both Chong and Gomes out in January to get them some more high-level experience, but they will only do so once the pair have penned new deals.
The Red Devils are convinced that Chong still has what it takes to reach the top, and they see him as one of the brightest prospects at the club, so they plan to ensure that the 19-year-old is aware of their faith before deciding on his future.
Having seen Juventus snap up Paul Pogba back in 2012, United are reluctant to lose any of their talent youngsters in similar fashion, and they appear to be confident that that will not happen with Chong.
