Graham Potter has heaped praise on young Brighton defender Ben White, who is currently on loan at Championship side Leeds.

White is performing well for the Elland Road club and has played every single minute of Leeds' Championship campaign so far, tasked with filling the shoes of Pontus Jansson.

Leeds currently have the best defensive record in the division, having conceded only nine times in 16 games. Marcelo Bielsa's side sit third in the Championship – only two points off West Brom in top spot.

A lot of this has to be attributed to the centre-back partnership of White and Liam Cooper and, speaking to Brighton's official website, Potter heaped praise on the 22-year-old defender.

"The feedback about Ben has been really good, and we’re happy with how he’s done so far. It’s really good for him and Leeds United too, because it shows that the loan has worked well for everybody."

There have also been reports that White has played enough games to ensure that the Premier League club can't recall him early from the loan. White signed his professional contract for Brighton in 2016 and it runs until 2022.

“He was a player that was really after first-team football and he’s got that opportunity there," Potter continued. "Of course he’s still our player, but we’re happy that he’s having a good experience and getting better all the time, so we’re delighted.”

White will be essential to Leeds if they are to return to the Premier League after 15 years away from the top flight. However, he may be playing for his future at the Seagulls, who spent big money on their defence with the £20m acquisition of Bristol City's Adam Webster over the summer.

Going forward, however, White will want to continue being integral to the Whites. He could be one to watch in the Premier League season next year, whether he plays for a possibly newly-promoted Leeds side or breaks through the ranks on the south coast.
