The 10 Top Scoring Goalkeepers in Fantasy Premier League This Season & Whether You Should Buy Them

facebooktwitterreddit

If you find a goalkeeper to stick with throughout the majority of a fantasy season, well done to you. It's a pretty tough ask, especially as you don't want to be chopping and changing your keeper too dramatically.

But if you do find yourself pulling your hair out over who to select, don't worry. There are plenty of options who, coincidentally, we're about to run through right now.

So, which goalies have earned the most points in Fantasy Premier League so far this season? Read on for your first fix of fantasy goodness during the international break.

10. Martin Dubravka

Points: 40

Price: £5m

Teams Selected By: 1%

Upcoming Fixtures: Aston Villa (A), Manchester City (H), Sheffield United (A)

Dubravka played every minute of Newcastle's 2018/19 campaign and has remained Steve Bruce's number one through what has been a testing start to the season for the Magpies.

However, three wins in their last five have lifted Newcastle up to 13th, with Dubravka picking up his only bonus point of the term during the 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

His other two clean sheets came against Tottenham and Brighton. Newcastle are four games without a clean sheet and their next three matches don't look particularly promising.

90min Recommends: Avoid in favour of cheaper, more reliable options.

9. David de Gea

Points: 42

Price: £5.5m

Teams Selected By: 14.5%

Upcoming Fixtures: Sheffield United (A), Aston Villa (H), Tottenham (H)

He may be ninth overall, but it's been a pretty ordinary campaign for United's Spaniard thus far.

The opening weekend saw De Gea pick up ten points against Chelsea, while a nine-point haul came four games later against Leicester, but those clean sheets remain the Red Devils' only shutouts so far.

A trip to Bramall Lane is intriguingly poised, while a home game against newly promoted Aston Villa really should yield points for United's defensive stars. God knows what will happen when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side host Tottenham.

90min Recommends: Avoid in favour of cheaper, more reliable options.

8. Ederson

Points: 45

Price: £6m

Teams Selected By: 16.9%

Upcoming Fixtures: Chelsea (H), Newcastle (A), Burnley (A)

City are in a bit of a weird spot at the moment, which makes bringing in or sticking with Ederson a bit of a tricky conundrum.

Five clean sheets from 11 games is a pretty good record - it's actually the joint best in the Premier League - but he's not exactly a bonus point fiend, managing only two so far.

He's currently injured, so it's a good idea to steer clear regardless of City's upcoming fixtures.

90min Recommends: Avoid in favour of cheaper, more reliable options.

7. Nick Pope

Points: 45

Price: £4.7m

Teams Selected By: 14.8%

Upcoming Fixtures: Watford (A), Crystal Palace (H), Manchester City (H)

Whenever Burnley have a tough couple of games, manager Sean Dyche figures out a new formula to stop them conceding and they get right back to their no nonsense best.

Pope was the fantasy beneficiary from Dyche's recent tinkering as the Clarets smashed West Ham 3-0, earning a few bonus points after making four saves.

A trip to Vicarage Road followed by a home clash against Crystal Palace ought to produce a few more points for the England stopper, but don't expect a clean sheet when Manchester City come rolling into town.

90min Recommends: Consider as short-term option.

6. Ben Foster

Points: 46

Price: £4.8m

Teams Selected By: 2%

Upcoming Fixtures: Burnley (H), Southampton (A), Leicester (A)

Foster is very much a goalie in form. Over the past five gameweeks, the former England international has managed scores of ten, two, two, three and nine. Quique Sanchez Flores must be doing something right.

Naturally, most fantasy managers avoided Foster at the start of the campaign, given the Hornets' tragic form. However, only one goalkeeper - who we'll mention later on - has more bonus points than Foster's ten so far.

Games against Burnley and Southampton could go either way, but expect him to ship a few when Watford face Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

90min Recommends: Consider as short-term option.

5. Rui Patricio

Points: 49

Price: £5.2m

Teams Selected By: 12.4%

Upcoming Fixtures: Bournemouth (A), Sheffield United (H), West Ham (H)

The Wolves keeper has only kept three clean sheets so far this season, but he's made up for those leaked goals somewhat by consistently earning save bonuses.

A 1-1 draw against Manchester United, during which Patricio saved a penalty, earned the 31-year-old nine points, while a 2-0 win against Watford saw the same point return.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have a few favourable fixtures coming up over the next few weeks, but the Christmas and New Year period may prove a little more difficult. The Wanderers face Tottenham, Manchester City and Liverpool over the festive season.

90min Recommends: Avoid until the New Year.

4. Dean Henderson

Points: 51

Price: £4.7m

Teams Selected By: 5.8%

Upcoming Fixtures: Manchester United (H), Wolves (A), Newcastle (H)

Henderson has earned plenty of admirers during his first campaign in the Premier League, with his recent form in particular exemplary.

With three clean sheets in his last five games, Henderson is definitely a goalie to consider once the international break concludes. However, he won't be available to face parent club Manchester United in the Blades' next fixture.

He'll return for the Wolves and Newcastle games, which should be tight encounters.

90min Recommends: Worth signing as long-term investment.

3. Kasper Schmeichel

Points: 52

Price: £5.2m

Teams Selected By: 11.2%

Upcoming Fixtures: Brighton (A), Everton (H), Watford (H)

It's probably not that surprising that Kasper is so high up on this list, given his Leicester side have been having one hell of a party so far this season.

It's also probably not too shocking to hear the Denmark international hasn't managed too many bonus points, given the exploits of teammates like Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and Ricardo Pereira.

However, Schmeichel remains a goalie you should definitely consider signing over the next few weeks, given the soft nature of their upcoming fixtures. Just be wary that they face Manchester City and Liverpool in back to back games in December.

90min Recommends: Worth signing as long-term investment.

2. Aaron Ramsdale

Points: 52

Price: £4.6m

Teams Selected By: 4.2%

Upcoming Fixtures: Wolves (H), Tottenham (A), Crystal Palace (A)

Bournemouth's goalkeeper situation was a little unclear at the start of the campaign, but Ramsdale is now very much the man in charge between the sticks at Dean Court.

Seeing off competition from Mark Travers and Artur Boruc for the starting jersey, the England Under-21 international has picked up big fantasy hauls against Southampton, Watford and Manchester United.

He's also the only goalkeeper with an assist so far this term, hoofing one up to Callum Wilson during that 3-1 win at Southampton, so if you're looking for a stopper with proven creative flair, look no further.

90min Recommends: Worth signing as long-term investment.

1. Mat Ryan

Points: 55

Price: £4.7m

Teams Selected By: 16.0%

Upcoming Fixtures: Leicester (H), Liverpool (A), Arsenal (A)

Perhaps a surprising leader at this stage of the season, with the Brighton stopper regularly picking up the points with consistent displays.

His best performances so far have come in the opening day win at Watford and the 0-0 draw at Newcastle, while he's also picked up clean sheets against Tottenham and Norwich. His stunning display at Old Trafford also saw the Australian pick up seven points.

However, the Seagulls' fixtures once the international break concludes are pretty daunting. They host Leicester at the Amex before trips to Liverpool and Arsenal. He may grab some save bonuses, but it's unlikely he'll pick up a clean sheet before Wolves visit the south coast in early December.

90min Recommends: Avoid until the New Year.
