Raheem Sterling had a square go with Joe Gomez in England training, you say?

Pfft...not interested in that.

New Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has defended his relationship with people who criticise his teammates and boss for money?

Pass.

Six Premier League sides are interested in a streaky Ligue 1 striker?

Now, you're talking my language! Here's today's #gossip

Gordon (Transfer Talk) Is Alive!

Anthony Gordon

Borussia Dortmund are 'hot on the heels' of 18-year-old Everton forward Anthony Gordon, according to Football Insider.

With the Toffees struggling to sign a centre forward who can actually, y'know, score goals in recent seasons, they have seemingly created their own in Gordon, who is the club's next big academy prospect it seems.

The Liverpool-born England Under-19 made his senior Everton debut in the 2017/18 Europa League glamour tie against Apollon Limassol, but has otherwise spent his nascent career thus far banging them in for the youth sides and is tipped for an imminent breakthrough.

His potential, according to Football Insider's 'German source', has caught the eye of Dortmund, who are still keen on adding to their collection of English youngsters in January, despite being knocked back last summer.

It is also noted that Gordon signed a new four-year deal last March, handily protecting Everton from a cheap exit.

Premier League Clubs Looking to Metz Spend

FBL-FRA-LIGUE1-METZ-NANTES

Leicester, Chelsea, Tottenham, Watford, Norwich (breathe) and Newcastle are alll interested in Metz front man Habib Diallo, according to TEAMtalk.

The 24-year-old is not particularly well known outside of France, where he was the second-top scorer in Ligue 2 last season before hitting the ground running in the top flight with eight strikes in 13 outings thus far.

His goal tally in Ligue 1 is (at time of writing) superior to Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Mauro Icardi and Memphis Depay, making him clearly the better player. No question about that.

TEAMtalk say this hot-shot, who made his one and so far only appearance for Senegal in 2018, could be yours for a snip at £10m.

It is not specified who is most likely to make an actual bid.

Arsenal and Spurs Linked With Napoli Star

Ories Mertens

Dries Mertens time at Napoli is almost at an end. The Belgian, who captured hearts and minds in Naples with his goals, all-round play and Gomorrah cameo, is in the final year of his contract and an extension seems out of the question.

Now 32, Napoli's infamously barmy president Aurelio De Laurentiis had previously made clear Mertens would only be re-signed for a reduced salary, while the player's role in the recent training camp mutiny has cooled relations down to somewhere close to absolute zero.

Inter have been tipped to jump in for the forward, but now Il Mattino (via SportWitness) claim both Arsenal and Tottenham fancy a bit of Mertens if he's going cheap.

It is said that the rivals have made enquiries but prefer a summer move, when the player can be signed sans transfer fee.

Whether Mertens sticks around at Napoli that long given the current situation is, as yet, unclear.

Leeds Ready to Move on Middlesbrough Defender

Daniel Ayala

In the Championship, Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds are 'lining up a formal approach' for Middlesbrough centre back Daniel Ayala, according to the Northern Echo.

Now, how you line up a formal approach exactly is unspecified. Something to do with rebooting the fax machine while wearing a tux?

Anyway, Ayala has, the report says, 'long been of interest' to Leeds, with Bielsa's promotion pushers 'expected' to make a bid for the 29-year-old former Liverpool youth-teamer in January.

Middlesbrough, currently third from bottom in the Championship, obviously do not want to sell but may have to accept an exit for one of their higher earners due to their precarious financial position.

Fulham and Stoke are also credited with an interest in the Spaniard, who made the Championship Team of the Year in 2016.

Striker Shopping for Simeone

Diego Simeone

And finally, Atletico Madrid are on the hunt for a shiny new number nine despite having Alvaro Morata, Diego Costa and Joao Felix at their disposal.

AS say that Diego Simeone knows Costa has seen better days, Felix is ostensibly not an out-and-out striker (and is also a child), leaving Morata as the only reliable source of goals - a situation which is iffy.

Atleti 'have not forgotten' about Valencia's Rodrigo, AS say, after coming close to signing the Brazil-born Spain international in the summer.

The report leaves it open as to whether Atletico will actually go for Rodrigo in January ('we will see') but it is made plain that the club will try to 'improve its workforce' once the market re-opens.
