Spain have released the home kit that will be worn by the national team through to the conclusion of Euro 2020, as the former world champions move to a more contemporary effort than they have opted for in recent years. 

Typically, Spain kits of the modern era have played it somewhat safe, more often than not taking on a cookie-cutter adidas template, albeit with with a yellow-and-blue or gold trim - such as their 2014 'medal' kit, featuring gold draped around the neck to commemorate their status as World and European champions at the time. 

As such, their kits don't often grab the headlines, but their latest home shirt has taken centre-stage amid a host of kit launches in the early part of this week.

The eye-catching design features an abstract spin on the national flag, while the various panels on the shirt come as part of an adidas campaign to find the 'meeting point between art and football.' 

​The manufacturer's Senior Design Director Jürgen Rank, who also designed new kits for Germany, Belgium, Sweden and Russia in the same vein, said on the kit (as quoted by ​ “It was a unique challenge to develop a line of jerseys that would successfully convey the raw emotion and unifying effect of football. 

"But beginning the creative process focusing on hand drawings enabled us to be more direct, human and emotional in what we created. 

"We’re delighted with an end result that truly succeeds in uniting the worlds of art and football.”

​Sergio Ramos and co. will adorn their new kit, which features traditional navy blue shorts and socks, for the first time against Malta in their penultimate qualifier for the competition, before they round off their campaign against Romania three days later.
