Wonderkids: 5 Everton Stars Who Could Break Through in 2019

Everton might not be setting the Premier League alight this season, but the future looks bright on Merseyside.

Everton had five players in the England Under-20's World Cup winning squad in 2017 and the Toffees' fans will be looking to see if their youngsters can make the step up this year.

The Toffees are currently sat in 11th place in the table and for the team to succeed they might just need some youthful exuberance to help Marco Silva out.

5. Callum Connolly

Callum Connolly was part of the England Under-20 World Cup winning squad and is currently on loan at Bolton Wanderers

He's played 23 times for Bolton this season, scoring two goals and adding one assist from defensive midfield.

Silva will no doubt be looking forward to the summer and the pre-season to have a better look at the midfielder and see if he can be a part of his squad next season.

4. Bassala Sambou

Bassala Sambou has been in great form for Everton Under-23s this season, scoring nine goals in all competitions.

With Cenk Tosun struggling with only three goals, Sambou could get a look in this season from the bench to see if he can make the step up from youth football.

The German striker was also a part of Everton's Premier League 2 winning season in 2017/18 where he scored three goals.

3. Kieran Dowell

Kieran Dowell, like Connolly, was a part of the England Under-20s winning squad and has been out on loan at high flying Sheffield United in the Championship .

He joined the Blades in the January transfer window and has played on eight occasions, scoring his first goal for the team in a win against West Brom in his last game.

The attacking midfielder is part of a group of Everton youngsters that will no doubt be wanting first-team football after a season and a half on loan at Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United  respectively.

2. Morgan Feeney

Morgan Feeney is the captain of Everton's Under-23 side and with Kurt Zouma currently suspended, Yerry Mina and Phil Jagielka both injured, Feeney might be promoted to the senior team sooner rather than later.

He's played 12 times this season for Everton's Under-23 team and has been capped for England's Under-19s in 2017.

1. Ademola Lookman

The former Leipzig winger was tipped to be a starter this season for Silva's team, but it hasn't quite happened so far.

He may have played just 17 times this season with only four starts in all competitions, but Lookman is still regarded as one of the club's biggest prospects.

He had a great spell on loan in Germany and scored five goals in 11 appearances but hasn't brought this form into the Premier League yet - however the second half of the season might be the time when he steps up.
