As reported by Milliyet (via Sport Witness), when the interest from West Ham came in, Beşiktaş offered the midfielder the captaincy and a deal until his retirement, but Medel has now changed his decision regarding his future at the club.
The 31-year-old has one year left on his contract in Istanbul with a clause for a one-year extension, however the report claims that Medel is not interested in activating it.
The tough-tackling midfielder has made 17 league appearance for the Turkish outfit this season as they sit in third place, nine points behind league leaders Basaksehir.
Medel has previous experience in the Premier League, spending one season at Cardiff City during the 2013/14 season, making 35 appearances. Following Cardiff’s relegation to the Championship, Medel made the move to Italian giants Inter during the summer.
The Chilean would reportedly like to continue his career back in the Premier League, but it remains to be seen whether West Ham would still be interested. A move to China is also a possibility, with several local clubs pushing heavily for his signature.
