Team News

After picking up another booking away at Sassuolo last time out, left-back Alex Sandro will be missing on Friday due to a one-match suspension. Veteran defender Leonardo Bonucci has returned to first-team training and is in line to make his return for the Frosinone game, but it remains to be seen whether Allegri decides to preserve the Italian for the Champions League tie against Atletico the following Wednesday.

Douglas Costa's comeback from a thigh injury is yet to be confirmed by the Bianconeri, whilst the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Juan Cuadrado remain out with their own respective lay-offs. The injuries to their defence should therefore see Martin Caceres and Daniele Rugani continue as a centre-back partnership, whilst Mattia de Sciglio may find himself moved to left-back to accommodate Joao Cancelo on the opposite flank.

Frosinone meanwhile will have to contend with their own injury issues, with influential duo Stefan Simic and Emil Hallfredsson out for the foreseeable future. Manager Marco Baroni will once again have to rely upon some of his fringe players to cope with the side's mounting problems, with striker and recent match-winner against Sampdoria Daniel Ciofani expected to lead the line once more.

Predicted Lineups

JuventusSzczesny; De Sciglio, Caceres, Rugani, Cancelo; Matuidi, Pjanic, Khedira, Bernardeschi; Mandzukic, Ronaldo.
FrosinoneSportiello; Capuano, Salamon, Goldaniga; Beghetto, Cassata, Maiello, Chibsah, Zampano; Ciano, Ciofani.

Head to Head Record

With just five previous meetings between the two sides, Juventus have virtually dominated proceedings. The Bianconeri have claimed victory on four occasions, and were denied a win just once, back in 2015. The last time these two sides met back in September, late strikes from Cristiano Ronaldo and Federico Bernardeschi handed Juventus all three points at the Stadio Benito Stirpe.

Recent Form

Rather unsurprisingly, Juventus have marched themselves to the top of Serie A and with a rather healthy 11 point cushion over second-placed Napoli. Allegri's side remain unbeaten in the league, but have shown signs of complacency in recent weeks with a couple of eyebrow raising performances and results.

The Bianconeri were embarrassingly knocked out of the Coppa Italia at the quarter-final stage by Atalanta who swept them aside with a fine 3-0 victory. Their cup exit was then followed by a remarkable home draw to Parma, where Juventus were both 2-0 and 3-1 up before former Arsenal winger Gervinho turned the game on its head with a late brace. They returned to winning ways against Sassuolo however, and Allegri will hope that they have now overcome their minor blip.

For Frosinone, things were looking very bleak before the winter break, and were seemingly nailed on to be relegated to the Serie B once more. However, Baroni's side have picked up in recent weeks, and brushed aside their 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Atalanta to record an impressive 4-0 victory over ten-man Bologna.

The Canarini come into Friday's game having claimed another victory, this time away to mid-table Sampdoria. Their recent revival has meant the side now have a strong chance of escaping relegation, with just three points separating them from 19th and Udinese in 16th.

Prediction

After coming back from their minor stumble to win 3-0 away at Sassuolo, Massimiliano Allegri's side will likely regain their focus and commitment now that the business end of the season has well and truly begun.

Despite the Bianconeri facing Atletico at the Wanda Metropolitano next week, the reigning Serie A champions should have more than enough strength in depth to come away with a victory on Friday even if Allegri decides to rest some of his key players.

Whilst Frosinone have shown sparks of mounting an unlikely relegation escape, it would be a miracle to see them claim any kind of positive result, with Juventus huge favourites to pick up another three points.
