Massimiliano Allegri

Picking the Best Potential Juventus Lineup to Face Chievo on Monday in Serie A

Juventus look to extend their unbeaten domestic start to the campaign on Monday night as they welcome Serie A strugglers Chievo to the Allianz Stadium. Juve go into the game on the back of their Supercoppa win last Wednesday, but now their focus turns back to the league where they currently sit nine points clear in first place.

Massimiliano Allegri will likely be without four key players after Mario Mandzukic, Andrea Barzagli, Juan Cuadrado and Mehdi Benatia all missed out on their trip to Saudi Arabia earlier in the week.

Here's a look at how they could line up on Monday night.

3. Goalkeeper and Defenders

Wojciech Szczęsny (GK) - Szczęsny has missed just four games of their 19-game unbeaten league run and has conceded just ten times in Serie A this term.

Joao Cancelo (RB) - The Portuguese full-back has missed the last four league games with a knee injury, but returned to the fray to help his side lift the Supercoppa title and will likely retain his place on Monday night.

Leonardo Bonucci (CB) - Bonucci is enjoying a marvelous first season back with Juventus after a one-season stint with Milan. He has missed just three Serie A games all season and has proficiently reintegrated himself into Juve's back line.

Giorgio Chiellini (CB) - The Juventus captain is now into his 14th season with the Old Lady and appears to have adapted well after the departure of long-serving Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon in the summer.

Alex Sandro (LB) - The Brazilian has become a mainstay in the Juve back line and continues to prove himself as one of European football's most valuable full-backs.

2. Midfielders

Miralem Pjanic (CM) - Despite appearing in all but two Serie A games this season, the 28-year-old has only had a hand in three league goals, after contributing 16 last year with 11 assists and five goals.

Blaise Matuidi (CM) - The World Cup winner has also had a disappointing season in an attacking sense and has only registered one league assist on the year.

Rodrigo Bentancur (CM) - The young Uruguayan has struggled to build a consistent run in the Juventus team this year, with Allegri prone to rotating his midfield trio, meaning the 21-year-old has made just 12 starting lineups in the league this season.

1. Forwards

Douglas Costa (RW) - Costa has only appeared in the starting line-up four times in Serie A this year, but with Mandukic's injury, the Brazilian is likely to retain his place in Juventus' attack.

Paulo Dybala (ST) - Many feared the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo would diminish Dybala's role in this Juventus side, but the 25-year-old has thrived this season, scoring five goals in the Champions League already and contributing five more in the league.

Cristiano Ronaldo (LW) - The former Real Madrid winger has registered thirty more shots on goal than anyone else in the league, and has notched 14 Serie A goals already. He also leads the team in assists having registered six this term.
