Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele has completed his move to Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F, ending his six-and-a-half year association with Spurs.

The Belgium international is said to have signed a three-year deal with the Blue Lions, having played his last game for Tottenham in the 3-2 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers in November.

A post on Tottenham's website reads: "We have reached agreement with Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F for the transfer of Mousa Dembele, subject to international clearance.

"The Belgium midfielder joined us from Fulham in August, 2012, and scored on his debut three days later against Norwich City.

"He established himself as a key player in our starting XI and went on to make 250 appearances in total, scoring ten goals.

"Mousa has been capped 82 times for Belgium and was part of the Red Devils’ squad that finished third at the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.

"We wish Mousa all the best for the future."

Dembele became an important member of Mauricio Pochettino's side and has partnered players like Victor Wanyama, Eric Dier and Harry Winks in central midfield in recent years. However, he was dogged by fitness problems, picking up 50 minor injuries in the last eight seasons.

The former Fulham midfielder also took the time to say goodbye to Tottenham supporters with a farewell interview posted on the club's Twitter.

He said: "The club always treated me fairly. I've always had a good experience here. I go away with an unbelievably feeling and with a certain love for the club.

"You always have this, because you have a long period at a club, you have a lot of love for the club but sometimes you separate in a bad way and I don't feel that way.

"Even the reaction I've had from the supporters, everyone is very positive with me. They wished me a lot of luck and happiness. The club is a part of my family now 100%."
