Burnley host Liverpool at Turf Moor on Wednesday night, as the two clash from opposite ends of the Premier League table.
Burnley are 19th in the league after their 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace and are desperate to return to winning ways. The Clarets haven’t won in seven league games, since back to back victories in September.
Liverpool come off the back of a dramatic derby day win, as Divock Origi’s 96th minute winner defeated Everton 1-0. The Reds remain unbeaten and will look to continue keeping up with league leaders Manchester City.
1. Ben Mee vs Mohamed Salah
Although Burnley's defence has been quite leaky this season, Ben Mee has remained consistent. The Englishman has played 19 times for the Clarets during the season and sits at the heart of their defence every game.
He will face Mohamed Salah on Wednesday, who has had a mixed season. Nine goals in 20 appearances is decent, but the Egyptian seems to be struggling to replicated his record-breaking form from last season. Salah will be keen to enter double figures at Turf Moor, if he can get the better of Mee.
2. Sam Vokes vs Virgil van Dijk
Sam Vokes is Burnley's top goalscorer this season, yet four goals is not enough to keep them out of the relegation zone. The Welsh striker has played every game this season and is the Clarets' key source of goals.
However, Virgil van Dijk has been outstanding for the Reds, and will look to keep Vokes quiet. Van Dijk has 19 appearances this season and will be searching for another Liverpool clean sheet as he continues his impressive form.
3. Jack Cork vs Jordan Henderson
Jack Cork has been at the heart of Burnley's midfield this season, making 19 appearances this season. He has also snatched two goals in a low scoring Clarets side and is key for the side.
Returning from a one match suspension, Jordan Henderson will slot straight back into the Reds midfield. The English midfielder has played 15 times this season and is constantly the deciding factor in midfield battles.
The two Englishmen will battle it out on Wednesday and whoever can dictate the game more effectively may earn the result at Turf Moor.
4. Johann Gudmundsson vs Trent Alexander-Arnold
Johann Gudmundsson is one of Burnley's most important players, shown through his assist stats. He has the most out of any Clarets player, with five in 18 appearances. The Icelandic midfielder is crucial for Burnley and offers an attacking flair to an otherwise lacklustre front line.
In top form this season, Trent Alexander-Arnold will have the task of containing Gudmundsson at Turf Moor. The defender has played 16 times this season and offers so much going forward as well as defensively for the Reds.
Gundmundsson will be eager to help create chances for Burnley, while Alexander-Arnold will work to keep him quiet on Wednesday night.
