Barcelona youngster Carles Aleñá has vowed to give manager Ernesto Valverde a selection headache after coming off the bench to score in a 2-0 win over Villarreal on Sunday.

Aleñá - a Barcelona native - has come through the ranks at La Masia after joining the club at the age of seven. Whilst first team opportunities have been limited in his career thus far, he made an immediate impact against Villarreal, scoring to put Barca 2-0 up and out of sight.

Speaking after the match as quoted by MarcaAleñá emphasised that he would continue to take whatever chances came his way.

"The victory was the most important, thanks to God and my teammates. I am happy the way it went. I need to take my chances like in the cup the other day. It is about being at the right place at the right time and making the coach doubt over who to put in if I am doing well."

The 20-year-old was also full of praise for Villarreal's performance, but added that everything seems easier when Lionel Messi is on the pitch.

"They have great players who like to have the ball and have been able to have control through Cazorla, Fornals etc. We were able to close the game by having the ball and getting the second goal.

"With Messi everything is easier, it was a pass that only he sees that put the ball where I wanted and then I was one-on-one and scored." The youngster added.
