Picking the Best Potential AC Milan Lineup to Face Lazio in the Serie A on Sunday
Milan will make the 600km journey south this weekend to face Serie A rivals Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.
The Rossoneri had 11 players called up for international duty during last weekend's break and will be looking to bounce back from their 2-0 loss to league leaders Juventus last time out.
3. Goalkeepers & Defenders
Gianluigi Donnarumma (GK) - The 19-year-old is one of just three ever-presents in Milan's starting XI this season. Disappointingly, the Italian has conceded 16 times in the league already and has just one Serie A clean sheet to his name this term.
Ignazio Abate (RB) - Abate is into his 10th season at the San Siro and has made eight league appearances this term. He has picked up one assist but will be more concerned about plugging the leaky Milan defence.
Cristian Zapata (CB) - The speedy centre-back has made just three appearances in Serie A this year, but has grasped his chance in the spotlight following injuries to two of Milan's key defenders.
Stefan Simic (CB) - Simic returned to Milan this summer following his loan spell with Crotone and is yet to feature in the black and red of Milan this season. However, with their defensive injuries, Simic is likely to step in and make his first appearance on Sunday.
Ricardo Rodriguez (LB) - The Swiss international has appeared in all but one league game this season and has contributed two assists from left-back. He will want to get forward at every opportunity but could be pinned back on Sunday by Lazio's tricky wingers.
2. Midfielders
Suso (RM) - Behind Higuain, Suso is Milan's joint second highest scorer this term with five goals in all competitions. In the Argentine's absence, there will be greater emphasis on Suso's performance, who will need to shine if Milan are to get anything from this away test.
Franck Kessie (CM) - The Ivorian has played in every Serie A game this season and has been one of Milan's most consistent performers. He has scored twice and picked up one assist, but is more relied upon for his ball-winning abilities.
Tiemoue Bakayoko (CM) - After being loaned to Milan from Chelsea in the summer, Bakayoko has made eight appearances for the Serie A giants, but has failed to register a meaningful stat as of yet.
Fabio Borini (LM) - The ex-Sunderland man has been starved of game time this term but will likely get his chance on Sunday in the absence of their number 10 Hakan Calhanoglu. Borini has made just four appearances this season and will hope to take his chance in the Turkish winger's absence.
1. Forwards
Patrick Cutrone (ST) - The Italian has bagged five goals this term and has the best minutes per goal ratio in the entire team, scoring every 107 minutes he plays. He too will be under more pressure to perform against Lazio as they look to fill the gaping void left by Higuain for this game.
Samu Castillejo (ST) - Castillejo is traditionally a right winger but will likely be drafted in to play upfront for Sunday's game. The Spaniard joined Milan from Villarreal in the summer and will be hoping to add to his tally of one goal for the season this weekend.
