4 Key Battles That Could Decide Tottenham's Premier League Clash Against Liverpool on Saturday

Tottenham face off against Liverpool at Wembley during Saturday's lunchtime kick off.

Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs side lost last time out to Watford, but will hope to see a return to winning ways against Liverpool.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has got off to a dream start as his Liverpool side maintained their winning ways against Leicester and will hope to see another positive display and result as they make the trip to Wembley.

Here are four key battles that could very well decide the tie.

1. Christian Eriksen vs James Milner

In form Christian Eriksen is in for a tough afternoon against combative midfielder James Milner.

Fresh from his two goals against Wales during the international break, Danish playmaker Eriksen will have to be on top form to win the battle in midfield against Milner.

The Liverpool midfielder has had a strong start to the season and his combative style of play could be used to throw Eriksen off his game.

2. Harry Kane vs Virgil van Dijk

Kane, just like Salah, was able to score three goals in last season's Premier League fixtures.

The England captain will have to be on top form to get the better of Van Dijk. The Dutchman earned high praise this week after the way he handled Kylian Mbappe when the Netherlands faced France.

This is one of the more important battles this weekend, and one getting the better of the other may prove tough.

3. Kieran Trippier vs Sadio Mane

Joint top goalscorer Sadio Mane has impressed since the start of the season, scoring four in four. This weekend he comes up against one of England's World Cup Hero's in Kieran Trippier.

The right back has earned plaudits after his sensational performances helped England to a fourth placed finish.

Trippier is known for gallivanting forward, joining the attack, putting in dangerous crosses, whilst also being defensively solid. Senegalese Mane with have his work cut out for him against Trippier this weekend

4. Jan Vertonghen vs Mohamed Salah

Last season Jan Vertonghen and Mohamed Salah battled it out in two intense Premier League fixtures. This weekend brings the Belgian and Egyptian back in close quarters.

Talisman Salah managed to score three goals against Spurs last season in a defeat and a draw, getting the better of Vertongehen, who played in both games.

If last season's encounters are anything to go by both players will be hard at work to disrupt the other.
