Picking the Best Potential Newcastle Lineup to Face Man City in the Premier League on Saturday

Newcastle take on Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday as they look to put their worrying start to the season behind them.

Magpies boss Rafa Benitez will be looking for his side to put in a strong defensive display like they did for long periods in Sunday's defeat to Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea.

With Kenedy back, Benitez will have more options available to him as he looks to outclass one of the most gifted managers in the world in Pep Guardiola.

Here is Newcastle's best possible lineup.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Martin Dubravka (GK) - The Slovakian stopper has been a fan favourite since joining initially on loan last January, and will continue to make his mark on the side with the number one spot against City.

DeAndre Yedlin (RB) - The pacy full back set up Joselu for his equaliser against Chelsea before scoring an own goal later in the game. He will hope to avoid the latter this time around.

Fabian Schar (CB) - Former La Liga man Schar will be looking to continue his positive start to the season for the Magpies, as he looks to keep out one of the most deadly attacking sides in the league.

Federico Fernandez (CB) - Newcastle's deadline day signing will hope to retain his spot in the side, after showing his Premier League experience against Chelsea last weekend.

Ciaran Clark (CB) - One of Benitez's most reliable men after a couple of years in the Spanish boss' side, Clark will be acting as a leader while Lascelles is missing.

Paul Dummett (LB) - The full back is set for a tough day at the Etihad as City's pace up front could cause the 26-year-old a whole heap of problems.

2. Midfielders

Matt Ritchie (RM) - He found last season tricky but has found his way back into the side. Ritchie will be looking to help Newcastle on the counter as that could be their only option in attack.

Ki Sung-yueng (CM) - Former Swansea midfielder Ki has the experience to help guide the midfield while Shelvey is missing. His ability to retain the ball could be very handy on this occasion.

Mohamed Diame (CM) - Newcastle's big man in midfield will look to continue his impressive form and try to lift the team with his big tackles.

Josh Murphy (LM) - The youngster has performed well when called upon so far this season, and Benitez could see the winger as good defensive cover for Dummett who City may look to expose.

3. Forward

Joselu (ST) - Top scorer for the Magpies so far this season. Joselu will want to try and create as many opportunities as he can get as the nitty gritty forward is in for a long day at the Etihad, and won't see much of the ball.
