5 Players Arsenal Need to Sign on Deadline Day

Arsenal had been doing quite well on the transfer front even before Arsene Wenger departed, having brought in both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January. But this summer has seen them conduct even more business.

The London-based outfit have already signed five players since the end of last season, but here are five more from which they could look to bring in today.

5. Domagoj Vida

The Croatian World Cup star has emerged as a target for Unai Emery at the Emirates. Vida only moved to Besiktas in January, yet his performances at the back for the Vatreni this summer made him quite the wanted man.

The player has also voiced an interest in moving to the Premier League and has urged Besiktas to let him go if an offer is made.

"I am always dreaming to play in the Premier League," he recently said to Haber 1903 (H/T Metro). "I do not know if the proposals will come again in this period. I would like [Besiktas] to make it easy for me."

Arsenal are said to be preparing to make a late offer for the player's services, so who knows?

4. Ousmane Dembele

The young, French star has only been with Barcelona one season, having left Dortmund to join the Spanish champions under rather acrimonious circumstances last year.

His move to the Camp Nou didn't go well as he had imagined and, after suffering a major injury after three appearances, things haven't exactly gotten back on track. Various sources have linked the Gunners with a late move for the World Cup winner, with talk of an initial loan deal with an option to buy going around.

3. Ricardo Rodriguez

Emery has also been credited with an interest in signing AC Milan's Ricardo Rodriguez. An injury to Sead Kolasinac has seen the Gunners deprived of a senior left-back, with the player ruled out for up to two months while Nacho Monreal still recovers.

Reports in Italy claim the Londoners have already had a bid turned down for the player, yet they could possibly return with a better offer depending on how desperate they are to find cover for their injured stars.

2. Jerome Boateng

They will likely face competition from rivals Manchester United over this one, however, the Gunners have also been linked with a move for the Jose Mourinho target and could make a move for the defender before the close of the window.

Boateng has been a Bayern Munich player for the past seven years but there have been many reports claiming he will be allowed to leave Bavaria this summer if the German giants receive an offer in the region of €50m.

1. Lucas Vazquez

The Londoners are said to still be in the market for wide players, while reports in Spain have credited them with making a bid for Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez. The Spaniard was only handed 16 starts by Los Blancos last season but could see more opportunities under new boss Julen Lopetegui, especially with Cristiano Ronaldo gone.

Arsenal, though, might be tempted to make a hard push for the player's services this Thursday,  but that  could also depend on any developments regarding Barcelona's Dembele.
