Italian media are reporting that Newcastle United are moving closer to making their second signing of the summer from Juventus for an Italy international.

Stefan Sturaro has been linked with the Magpies for the past few months and TuttoMercato have reported that the Tyneside outfit will have to pay around £14m if they want to get their man.

A £10.5m bid is currently on the table from Newcastle however they are currently £3.5m short of Juventus’ asking price.

Sturaro has been on Juventus’ books since 2014 and has made 64 appearances and scored two goals during that time, as well featuring 13 times in a loan spell at Genoa, and is looking for more regular first-team football.

With 21-year-old Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino likely to leave the club this summer, it’s a priority for manager Rafael Benitez to bring in reinforcements and the Spaniard feels that Sturaro could fit the bill to bring success to Tyneside.

Newcastle have been scouting the Italian midfielder for the past year, according to the Newcastle Chronicle, and getting this deal over the line would mean that Sturaro would join goalkeeper Martin Dubravka at St James’ Park and would become the Magpies’ second signing this summer.
