Dates to Remember: When Every AC Milan Player's Contract Is Due to Expire

After a slow start to the 2017/18 season, AC Milan have been rejuvenated under the guidance of former midfield maestro Gennaro Gattuso.

Milan hit the headlines last summer after spending a reported £170m on arrivals at San Siro in an attempt to return to the heights of European football.

However, signings such as Leonardo Bonnuci and Andre Silva have not performed to a consistently high standard and with the summer transfer window looming, Gattuso may be looking to mould his own Milan side.

Here's a look at when every first team player at AC Milan, including those out on loan, is due to run out of contract and what that means for their future with the club.

1. Expiring 30th June 2018

Marco Storari (GK) - The 41-year-old veteran has acted as Milan's third choice goalkeeper this season and has made just two first team appearances. It is highly unlikely Storari will be offered an extended contract as he winds down his playing days.

Hachim Mastour (MF) - Yet to make a first team appearance for Milan but youth could be on his side. At just 19 years old it would be strange for Milan to allow Mastour to leave for free.

Nnamdi Oduamad (FW) - Another player who has never made a first team appearance, Oduamad's future at Milan is uncertain after spending the season on the sidelines.

Fabio Borini (FW) - Borini's contract is yet to be finalised but he will be joining Milan on a permanent deal from Sunderland in July.

2. Expiring 30th June 2019

Christian Zapata (DF) - Zapata has endured a difficult season with restricted appearances but Milan have not expressed any intent to sell the Colombia international. Zapata may have to use the World Cup to prove his worth.

Jherson Varga (DF) - After returning from a loan spell in Russia, Varga has been frozen out of the first team picture and is very unlikely to be provided with a contract extension.

Luca Antonelli (DF) -  Another player who has not featured heavily for Milan this season, it would be surprising if Antonelli is a Milan player beyond 2019.

Ignazio Abate (DF) - At 31 years old, Abate's best days are most likely behind him and LA Galaxy are reportedly keen to reunite him with former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Riccardo Montolivo (MF) - After arriving at Milan in 2012, Montolivo has been a consistent performer in the heart of midfield. However, there have been no rumours of a contract extension as of yet.

Jose Mauri (MF) - No league appearances mean that Mauri's future is in doubt. A loan move could prove crucial if he is to acquire a contract extension.

Gabriel* (GK) - Currently out on loan at Empoli, Gabriel is unlikely to play any minutes at Milan if he is retained by his parent club.

Andrea Bertolacci* (MF) - The current depth Milan have in midfield means that Bertolacci will struggle to break into the first team if he decides not to leave this summer.

3. Expiring 30th June 2020

Alessio Romagnoli (DF) - Romagnoli's performances have seen him become a transfer target for European giants such as Chelsea, Manchester United and Barcelona.

Lucas Biglia (MF) - An outstanding season for the Argentine has ensured that he will remain at San Siro for the remainder of his contract.

Manuel Locatelli (MF) - A highly rated teenager who has not been fully utilised this season, a loan move may be considered before a new contract is penned.

Giacomo Bonaventura (MF) - Described as "irreplaceable" by Gattuso, a contract renewal will be imperative to ensuring the 28-year-old is a mainstay in the midfield.

Alessandro Plizzari* (GK) - At only 18 years old, Plizzari could potentially join up with the first team next year, replacing Marco Storari.

Stefan Simic* (DF) - Another player who will have to look elsewhere this summer if he is to secure any playing time.

Carlos Bacca* (FW) - Currently on loan at Villarreal, who have an option to sign the Colombian on a permanent deal for €15.5m. Considering his goal record this season, the Spaniards are likely to trigger this deal.

4. Expiring 30th June 2021

Gianluigi Donnarumma (GK) - Non-stop drama surrounds the young goalkeeper, with his contract extension last summer having little effect on the constant rumours concerning his future.

Antonio Donnarumma (GK) - The brother of Gianluigi, Antonio was brought in as a back-up option this season. Despite his decent performances when called upon, his stay at Milan relies solely on his brother. If Gianluigi is sold then so will Antonio.

Gustavo Gomez (DF) - Looked on his way out last summer before a deal with Fenerbahce fell through. His lack of game time this year means a deal for his permanent sale will almost certainly happen.

Ricardo Rodriquez (DF) - Has had a steady first season and is likely to remain at Milan for the foreseeable future.

Hakan Calhanoglu (MF) - A somewhat inconsistent season has demonstrated his ability to turn a game on its head with flashes of brilliance. Only a ridiculous bid will persuade Milan to sell.

Patrick Cutrone (FW) - Has been Milan's most prolific striker this season, despite his young age. A contract renewal would be beneficial for both parties, with Cutrone needing consistent playing time to develop.

Nikola Kalinic (FW) - After a poor season, Milan are looking to offload Kalinic this summer, with recently promoted English side Wolverhampton Wanderers one club interested in signing the Croatian.

Gian Filippo Felicioli* (DF) - No realistic chance of breaking into the first team any time soon. Another loan deal will be imminent.

5. Expiring 30th June 2022

Leonardo Bonucci (DF) - Has not had the desired effect at Milan but there is no denying his ability as a world class centre back and he will remain the key man in the heart of the Milan defence.

Andrea Conti (DF) - A cruciate ligament injury sustained in September ended Conti's season before it got going. Nothing will be decided regarding his future until he is back on the pitch playing regular football.

Franck Kessie (MF) - After a successful first year on loan, Kessie will be a permanent Milan player as of June next year. At just 21 years of age, Kessie could yet become one of the best midfielders in Europe.

Suso (FW) - A player who looks increasingly likely to leave this summer with Liverpool and Tottenham among the teams reportedly looking to sign the talented attacking midfielder.

Andre Silva (FW) - Similarly to Kalinic, Silva has endured a poor season and there are strong rumours surrounding his potential sale this summer. His young age may save him from being sold permanently, however.
