Arsenal have completed a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund chief scout Sven Mislintat as the club's new head of recruitment, the club's website have confirmed.

The move has been made official after a fee of almost €2m was agreed between the clubs.

Mislintat was under contract at Dortmund until 2021, but has now made the switch to North London where he will start in December and work closely with manager Arsene Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis.

The 45-year-old has been credited with unearthing several of the Bundesliga club's most successful players in recent years, including the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Shinji Kagawa and Ousmane Dembele.

“We are delighted that Sven is joining us," said Wenger. "Identifying and developing talent is a core part of our philosophy and Sven has an outstanding track record over many years. We look forward to him taking our existing recruitment approach forwards.”

Arsenal have appointed Mislintat as a replacement for long-serving chief scout Steve Rowley, who has stepped down from his role.
