Picking the Best Potential Milan Lineup to Face Austria Wien in Thursday's Europa League Clash

The Rossoneri kick off their Europa League campaign against Austria Wein on Thursday - Vincenzo Montella has a strong from to pick from for the encounter at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion.

Milan will be desperate to find their feet quickly in Austria after a humiliating 4-1 defeat at the hands of Simone Inzaghi's SS Lazio side on Sunday.

Here's who Montella might pick...

  • G. Donnarumma

Despite traveling with 40-year-old Marco Storari and brother Antonio, Gianluigi Donnarumma should be given as much European experience as possible this season.

  • Abate
  • Romagnoli
  • Bonucci
  • Antonelli

With Andrea Conti currently undergoing a recovery programme, it's between Ignazio Abate and Davide Calabria for a starting spot at full-back.

22-year-old defender Alessio Romagnoli has travelled with the squad and could make an appearance, with the experienced Luca Antonelli expected to step in for Ricardo Rodríguez, the Swiss international not travelling with the squad to Austria.

  • Locatelli
  • Biglia
  • Calhanoglu

The return of Lucas Biglia is huge for Milan. Although he was unable to perform at his best when he faced his former employers on Sunday, Biglia's experience will be important for Montella on Thursday.

Opting to start Riccardo Montolivo and Franck Kessié alongside Biglia against Lazio, expect to see a change in the heart of their midfield in the Europa league.

  • Suso
  • André Silva

  • Bonaventura

With Giacomo Bonaventura taking up a more central role in recent years for AC Milan, he is likely to be deployed out on the left wing on Thursday.

Suso is the only recognised winger travelling with the squad and Montella will need to utilise the width to come away with three points. As the main striker, both Patrick Cutrone and Nikola Kalinic will be in contention. However, £34m striker André Silva will likely start ahead of them after being left out against Lazio.
