Reports over the weekend have suggested that both Manchester City and Chelsea lead the way in the race to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.The 23-year-old Arsenal and England midfielder has rejected a new £100,000-a-week deal at The Emirates and looks likely to be heading out of North London this summer.
According to Indykaila sources in the north west however, the club that the player has his heart set on joining is Liverpool, who made advances towards him back in January and whose coach, Jurgen Klopp, is a huge admirer. Oxlade-Chamberlain has grown frustrated at his lack of regular first-team action under Arsene Wenger and has made it quite clear that wherever he goes to next, he will demand a place in the starting XI.
Whether Klopp can guarantee that remains to be seen, but the player has now given the Reds boss the incentive to make a move for his services before the August 31 deadline. The man from Portsmouth arrived at his current employers back in 2011and has made over 130 appearances for Arsenal. His next move is critical to his chances of representing his country at next summer's World Cup and he knows that he has to be a regular starter to grab a place in Gareth Southgate's final 22 should England qualify for Russia.
